Re Fashion Edinburgh
'Supporting local business, nurturing sustainable creativity and raising money for charity.'
ReFashion Edinburgh is a sustainable fashion event that I produce.
Along with nine other designers, we each design a collection which must be entirely sustainably created.
My garments are usually made from a combination of remnants both from the kilt making industry and my own workshop, curtains, both old and new, remnants, along with various pieces of antique and vintage cloth, and embellishments.
This type of work brings out my creative side. Every garment is different, and unique, and I design adventurous stand out pieces.
There is a section in ReFashionEdinburgh dedicated to wearable art costumes. These must have been created entirely from rubbish, and have a sustainable theme, to illustrate the purpose of the event.
ReFashion Edinburgh is usually held in November, and this year 2025 will be at The Biscuit Factory venue in Leith on Sunday 23rd November. Ticket revenue will be entirely donated to a local charity called 'Traditional Dance Forum Scotland'.
All participants in ReFashion Edinburgh take part entirely free of charge. No one pays or is paid for their contributions. It is run entirely as a mutually beneficial art project in which everyone is considered equal. We support and nurture. We are a team of over 50, designers, models, photographers, videographers, technicians and support staff. We come together with the collective aim of supporting sustainable design. Please read my sustainability manifesto in the 'About' section of this website.
