Red textured trousers recycled from a vintage kimono

I made these trousers as part of a sustainable fashion project I have named 'waist knot ' which s a play on words of the saying ' waste not want not '.  all the items in the collection have been upcycled from old kimonos which for one reason or another have reached the end of their usefulness in that form . I collected , unpicked and washed the kimono fabric myself so I can guarantee its authenticity.

The term waist knot also refers to the wrap belts which feature across the collection as one of a series of unique multi sizing techniques  that i have used to increase the sustainability of the items.

These trousers are multi sizeable because they have an elasticated waist , a swell as a long wrap belt that can pull them in at the waist, and ties in a pretty bow at the front.

the trousers will fit a uk size 12 to 16

 approx measurements

waist 28 to 32 inches

hips 44 inches

inside leg 27 inches

They are made from a beautiful thick vintage red textured silk , as kimono fabric is very narrow they have been made with panels down the side . they also feature chunky pockets at the front and back , and a button front fastening.  They are entirely lined with amazing red and black paisley lining and can be worn rolled up as the fabric is very vintage it shows some signs of age , in the way of fading , although its not prominent and does not interfere with the overall appeal of the garment at all. flaws should be seen as an intrinsic part f the story of the fabric
